Where to from here for Year 12 students?
General: Posted 28-5-10 Deadline - No Deadline
It is pleasing to see and hear how many Year 12s have made choices concerning which courses and which universities they are interested in applying for during Term3. That is the easy part. Now the focus should be on applying yourself to your studies, your assessment tasks, summaries of topics, major works to give yourself the best chance you have of getting into your desired course either by getting the ATAR needed or by being successful in an early entry application. Some students are using study periods wisely and well but unfortunately there are some that are not.

Scholarships: Posted 25-5-10 Deadline - No Deadline
The closing date for Round 1 applications is fast approaching - Fri 11 June. You will need to have the application form signed off by the school before this date. Don't leave everything until the last minute! Application forms can be downloaded from the website. The accounting industry partners are looking for all-round achievers to join the course eg have pursued interests within and outside school and in doing so demonstrated things like interpersonal skills, dedication and leadership. A high ATAR is not essential. Academic ability is just one of 5 selection criteria, so some successful candidates will be stronger in other areas than on ATAR. Each year they take in applicants whose eventual ATARs fall in the range 85-100, so please apply. UTS will email all Round 1 applicants by Monday 21 June, advising whether they have been selected for an interview or not. Interviews will be held in the July school holidays. In November they will write to all schools advising which of your students applied (in both our Round 1 and Round 2) and whether they were selected for interview. Worth $$$$$.

Variety of scholarships at CSU
Scholarships: Posted 1-5-10 Deadline - No Deadline
Studying at university can be financially difficult for many students but Charles Sturt University (CSU) tries to lessen the burden by offering many undergraduate scholarships. The Charles Sturt Foundation provides over 200 undergraduate scholarships at the Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga campuses of CSU. Most of these scholarships are funded by individuals or organisations that hold a strong belief in supporting the University and its students. As well as the Foundations scholarships, CSU offers a range of equity and merit based scholarships. These include residential school equity grants, excellence scholarships, science scholarships and they also have a number or partnerships and pathway scholarships for CSU/TAFE study pathways. “Students can also apply for Professional Placement Equity Grants,” explains CSU’s Access and Work Manager Debra Johnson. “These are a CSU initiative to assist undergraduate students who must complete a compulsory professional placement as part of their course requirement.” For more information on the scholarships available at CSU visit the site.
