The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) invites aspiring circus performers to submit their applications for entry into the 2010 Bachelor of Circus Arts course by 4 September 2009. The degree course is accredited by Swinburne University. Entry into the course is by audition. Applicants must have completed Year 12 or equivalent to be eligible for this program. The course is for those with a flair for the physical, the desire for a challenge and backgrounds in physical training such as circus, sport, dance, gymnastics, Xtreme sport, martial arts, acrobatics, physical theatre, trampoline, diving or similar. NICA graduates are highly employable, knowledgeable and creative, with awe-inspiring circus and performance skills. Teaching Scholarships for 2010

There are big changes to the 2010 Teacher Education Scholarship Program, which now offers even better incentives to encourage talented students to consider a teaching career. These include increased financial assistance, plus a guaranteed job after graduation. This year, 300 scholarships are on offer for students to train as teachers in maths, science and English and primary or secondary special education. Of these scholarships, 80 are available exclusively for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students to train as teachers in primary or any secondary subject area. Successful scholarship applicants this year will receive: • up to $5,000 annual allowance • a guaranteed job when they graduate • $3,000 when they begin permanent teaching • plus, they may be eligible for the HECS-HELP benefit from the Commonwealth Government.
