SCU - early entry open now for you to apply online
Early Entry schemes: Posted 2-8-15 Deadline - No Deadline
Southern Cross University sent this: SCU is excited to launch our 2016 STAR Early Entry Scheme. SCU is proud to support schools from across our regions to transition students with the appropriate academic ability and talent into our range of undergraduate degrees. The STAR Scheme focuses on working with schools to match individual students to a particular course based on their likelihood of success in their chosen discipline. Students can gain an early offer to study in 2016 at SCU on the basis of their School Principal's recommendation. The STAR scheme this year remains unchanged from last year using the fully online STAR Scheme Portal. Online registrations are now open and close on 9 September 2015 via our STAR Entry Scheme website. The online student registration should take students no more than five to ten minutes to complete. Students need to nominate a first and second preference course. Please note once a STAR registration has been submitted students will not be able to change their STAR preferences. To receive an offer, students will need to list the SCU course for which they have been recommended as their first preference in the following University Admissions Centres (UAC or QTAC) early offer rounds: QTAC Early Offer Round on 26 November 2015 or UAC Early Offer Round on 3 December 2015. Secondary teaching at UNSW - new requirements
Career Choice: Posted 2-8-15 Deadline - No Deadline
I received this from UNSW: For secondary education entry, the 3 Band 5’s including English is only an assumed knowledge expectation for our dual UG degrees. It will not be a restricted entry requirement. Because we offer only dual degrees, enrolled students will still be able to satisfy the accreditation requirement by satisfactorily completing a full year of discipline area studies. Alternatively, students who do not meet the above criteria can complete a discipline-only UG degree followed by a Master of Teaching (if their academic performance allows for PG entry).
It should be noted that all students (even those with the Band 5s) will now also have to pass the compulsory state-wide LANTITE test in their second year to prove their Literacy and Numeracy competency.
If they are unable to pass that test, they will be asked to transfer out of Education into their discipline degree only (e.g. BArts, BScience etc.)
