Starting next year, the University of Newcastle will offer a combined Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc) and Doctor of Medicine (MD), a unique five year qualifying medical program.This unique degree has been developed through close consultation with doctors, health care providers, graduates and current students to ensure that it is relevant and responsive to our rapidly changing health environment.New five year medical degree now available at UON Delivered in partnership with the University of New England (UNE), the new program replaces our previous Bachelor of Medicine, building on the success of the Joint Medical Program and providing opportunities to further develop your research knowledge, skills, and healthcare experience. A reminder that the deadline for applying to do UMAT tests in July for anyone considering studying medicine, dentistry or some health courses is approaching ie 6th Jun at 5pm. UMAT scores can be used for admission to any of the UMAT Consortium universities ONLY in the year following the test. For example, results from UMAT2014 can be used for undergraduate medicine or health science courses beginning in 2015 but NOT 2016. Do not register for UMAT2014 unless you are planning to apply for a course commencing in 2015 AND you meet the eligibility criteria specified in the UMAT2014 Information Booklet and can sit the exam on 30th July in Armidale.

The 2015 Bond University Scholarship Program is now open for applications! The program offers a large number of full fee and part fee scholarships as well as cash bursaries to Australia’s best and brightest students. Most scholarships can be used for any single or combined program (with the exception of a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery). Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must complete an online application form. Students will be required to attach a copy of their year 11 (semester 1 and 2) and year 12 (semester 1) school reports, a summary of achievements, and a personal statement for each scholarship they choose to apply for.
