Unsure or need advice on your options?
General: Posted 17-1-13 Deadline - No Deadline
If you are among the disappointed students who did not receive an offer to university or to the university who wished to attend, you can look at the ATAR cut-offs, see which courses still have vacancies (noted by a V beside them in the Herald or Telegraph newspaper) and change your preferences for the late and final round of offers. Cick below for details. If your ATAR means, that university is not an option, there are plenty of alternatives around. Please email me (careers@mccarthy.nsw.edu.au)if you would like advice or suggestions on options for you.

TAFE course in 2013?
TAFE: Posted 6-1-13 Deadline - No Deadline
If you have decided that one of the over 1200 TAFE courses in NSW is what you want to do or to investigate what is available, you should check them out. You can visit the main website or look at what is available in Tamworth (use link)or Newcastle or Coffs or whereever you want to go. Different enrolment procedures apply at each TAFE so the sooner you start looking, the better it will be. Use TAFE and private colleges as a pathway to uni
Universities: Posted 2-1-13 Deadline - No Deadline
If you don't think you will get into uni based on your ATAR, and still want to go to university consider doing some Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses. Use these to apply to go to uni in 2014. Some universities have credit transfers programs from certain TAFE and college courses. This does not apply to ALL courses so contact me for details. Other private colleges have special agreements that will see you get straight into university after completing courses at the college. There are a wide range of course and careers that these apply to so please contact me if you want information.

Deadline for changing preference is midnight Jan 4
UAC: Posted 2-1-13 Deadline - No Deadline
Whatever course you want to get into during the Main Round offers must be your first preference by midnight Friday Jan 4. If you want to change preferences, you must do it by then. Advice from UAC is put your dream course as your first preference and then include courses more aligned to your ATAR (based on what this year's ATAR was which is the best guide we have) to have realistic chances of getting into uni - either at the uni you want or into a similar course at a different uni.

HSC results - now the ATAR.
UAC: Posted 19-12-12 Deadline - No Deadline
Relieved? Disappointed? Regrets? Pleased? Thrilled? Mixed feelings? Please remember that your ATAR is NOT the average of your HSC marks. You would need have received mainly Band 4s and above to get the ATAR needed for most uni courses. HSC results in the 70s will NOT mean an ATAR in the 70s. If you want to go to uni, but are disappointed with your ATAR or can't see how you can get into your desired course or want to see how bonus ATARs points change your selection rank for different uni's and courses, please ring the school, email me or ring/text my mobile (0422600014) to arrange a time to talk about your options either on your own or with a parent too. Ask a parent to ring me if you prefer. I cannot help you if I do not know you need advice because the school is not advised of your ATAR. Fingers crossed for good news for you.
